The following comments are being made by Dr. Daria Davidson, an independent field associate with Max International on February 28, 2010.
I have had a lot of questions in the last few weeks about two newer network marketing companies that sell bottled water drinks with claims of profound science and health benefits. These two products are Evolv and Asea. I have not toured the facilities where those products are developed nor have I reviewed independent research from either company. My opinion here is based on my background and what information I could pick up from cruising the internet.
OK …. my basic take on the Evolv and the Asea claims:
- I think Evolv’s main competition is Asea and Asea’s main competition is Evolv.
- I think Asea is directly trying to ride the wave of Max with its glutathione claim. I have heard the “raises glutathione production 500%” claim although I have not seen it anywhere in print. Their website suggests increased effectiveness of glutathione of 500%.
- Both Evolv and Asea claim to be based on extensive 15 and 16 years of scientific development but I haven’t seen anything at all except testimonials.
- Evolv sends people to the archaea active website for scientific validation. I have looked at some of their reports and so far have not seen anything that makes me think for a second that it would do anything at all in a human. The claim is that the formula that was created to make bacteria more potent in the “clean up the environment” part of the story really is odd to me because bacteria don’t have a digestive system similar to mammals so the addition of mammalian digestive enzymes would be very different when presented to a bacteria from what we might expect when presented to a mammal. Even in the lab studies digestive enzymes are not a normal part of the environment for cells other than those in the g.i. tract, so who knows what was actually going on there.
- Evolv does not appear to have actual ingredients in anything close to effective amounts for general human health, except the water. Could it actually be better for health than plain spring water? I suppose it is possible, I just don’t see anything to cause me to think so at this point.
- Evolv needs to do studies on living mammals to even come close to making a prediction about the effect of giving spring water (with an incredibly microscopic amount of alfalfa, mammalian digestive enzymes and so little whey protein that the liquid still looks just like spring water) to humans and expect anything other than placebo effect. Or a double blind, placebo controlled, cross over human clinical study would be helpful to validate things.
- Asea is even more odd. The product is water (I’m not sure if it is tap water or spring water) and salt. It has a chlorine smell from what I am told. The claims are hard to believe. There is no science what-so-ever at their website.
Evolv and Asea will duke it out between themselves. It is almost a step down in dignity to even address Asea as anything what-so-ever to do with cellular health. I believe that company is trying to pull the glutathione marketplace to themselves with no reasonable data at all.
MaxGXL represents the cellular health breakthrough that was so elusive. To be able to improve glutathione levels so dramatically is wonderful for maintaining cellular vitality.
